MyNu Energy launches trailer-mounted solar battery system amid diesel supply concerns

MyNu Energy says it is launching a new trailer-mounted solar battery system as businesses across Australia report difficulties sourcing diesel and managing rising fuel costs.

The Brisbane-based company has unveiled the PowerQub-M, which it says is designed to provide mobile electricity without relying on diesel fuel, a growing concern for operators in remote and regional areas. The company cited impacts on farms, construction sites and regional businesses, particularly in rural Queensland and other regional markets.

MyNu Energy co-founder John Myler said the current environment had increased demand for alternatives to diesel-powered generation.

“We’re hearing from farmers, construction operators and regional businesses who are struggling with both the cost and availability of diesel. Power is critical to their operations, and they need solutions that are reliable, but also independent of fuel supply chains,” Myler said.

According to MyNu Energy, the PowerQub-M combines a 3kW solar array with battery storage options from 60kWh to 240kWh. The company said the system can deliver between 25kVA and 160kVA of power depending on configuration.

The company said the system operates without exhaust fumes and with minimal noise compared to diesel generators, and positioned this as relevant to workplace health and safety considerations.

“Traditional generators are noisy, require constant refuelling and produce emissions that can impact workers on site,” Myler said. “Battery-based systems provide stable, clean power without those downsides.”

Co-founder Shaun Nugent said the product was designed for rapid deployment in temporary or remote environments, including construction sites, farms, events and disaster recovery scenarios.

“We wanted to create something that could be moved easily and set up quickly wherever power is needed — whether that’s a construction site, a farm, an event or even disaster recovery situations,” Nugent said. “The trailer-based design means it can be deployed rapidly without the need for permanent infrastructure.”

MyNu Energy also said battery-based power can provide more stable electricity than some diesel generators, potentially reducing wear on sensitive equipment.

The company said the PowerQub-M is designed and manufactured in Australia and expects demand across construction, agriculture, remote infrastructure, events and emergency response, particularly where diesel logistics are challenging.

“This isn’t just about sustainability — it’s about practicality,” Nugent said. “Businesses need power they can rely on, and increasingly they’re looking for solutions that aren’t tied to diesel.”
