Monitoring Made Easy: Introducing Flex IO

What happens when customers want to monitor something beyond their security system’s range? Whether it’s a remote storage facility, RV, boat, entrance gate, or even free standing assets like tractors or other important equipment, customers don’t necessarily want to purchase an additional system to monitor these key places of interest.

The Flex IO is a cellular contact sensor designed to revolutionize how we protect what matters most, regardless of location. Its cellular connectivity allows for monitoring from virtually anywhere and sending alerts directly to your smartphone. Plus, its weatherproof design ensures durability outdoors, making it suitable for a variety of environments paired with battery-powered for simplifying installation.

For security partners, Flex IO expands the range of solutions they can offer, catering to a wider array of customer needs. Installers can either offer the device on its own or bundle it with IQ panels to address large property or remote awareness needs, increasing their recurring monthly revenue (RMR).

Whether it’s monitoring a backyard gate, or a boat docked hundreds of kilometers away, Flex IO ensures customers are alerted to any unauthorized access. Its integration with security panels adds convenience, allowing users to manage all their security needs from a single interface. Its versatility, ease of use, and advanced features make it a valuable addition to any security system, offering both security installers and end-users a comprehensive solution for monitoring remote properties and assets.

I thought I would share a real world experience with the Flex I/O at Maverick last night. The device is mounted on a rolling gate.

At 9:58pm I got an alert that the P2 shipping gate was opened… This is outside the normal opening schedule for this gate, which prompted the notifications. Because it was a long holiday weekend, I immediately went to the camera app on my phone (not Alarm.com) to see what was happening. It turned out it was an employee returning a company truck he borrowed over the weekend. Although this event wasn’t a break in, it did validate the Flex I/O as an early warning device for a perimeter intrusion. In conjunction with cameras it provides an effective way to reliably monitor industrial yards.

I installed the Flex I/O in my mailbox which is up a 300′ driveway and out of the line of sight.  Wife likes knowing if/when the mail has come.  I was not sure if it was legal to put anything in the box.  Postal delivery person hasn’t complained about it, yet.

It was easy to install with double-baked tape.  It was easy to setup with the guides.  Documentation was very good.  I was considering mounting it down on the post and wiring a separate contact switch, but I didn’t need to.

Bottomline: We’re loving it!
