QUOTES

  • “Cybersecurity must become a routine and legitimate subject of Australian boardroom discussions. I commend the Guide’s contributors, and Palo Alto Networks, for producing this important document that will help Australians safely unlock the potential of the digital age.”
    –        Honourable Dan Tehan MP Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Cyber Security
  • “Cybersecurity isn’t a mysterious risk. Every board and CEO must know and understand what good looks like in cybersecurity and their acceptable level of cyber risk. What is needed are trusted advisors who can cut through the hype and not be distracted, providing boards and senior leaders with impartial advice.”-       Mike Burgess, Chief Information Security Officer, Telstra Corporation Limited and Rachael Falk, Cyber Security Expert
  • “Central to driving organisation-wide accountability for security is having all parts of an organisation recognise their role in addressing cybersecurity risks. Business units make better security decisions when they genuinely own the risk of non-compliance. A security-conscious culture, where staff actively recognise their own responsibility for mitigating cyber threats, is equally critical. Champion new ideas—especially the radical ones— that challenge preconceptions on how best to solve cybersecurity problems.”
    –        Ben Heyes, Chief Information Security and Trust Officer, Commonwealth Bank of Australia
  • “If you believe that safe, secure, and trusted networks are fundamental to the nation’s social and economic wellbeing and national security interests, then you need to care about cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is a team sport. To be successful against this threat requires an enterprise-wide approach. If you had only one dollar left to spend on cybersecurity, you should spend it on awareness.”
    –        Stephen Day, Major General, former Head of Cyber at the Australian Signals Directorate and the Inaugural Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre

  • “Many companies—particularly those in Australia—have a laissez-faire attitude when it comes to cybersecurity. As Australian organisations and its citizens transition more of their personal lives, business operations, and critical infrastructure into the digital arena, we have seen cyberattacks become more aggressive, successful, and damaging. A prevention orientation is the key to combatting cybercriminals. Business leaders must approach the cybersecurity challenge by looking at three important factors – people, process and technology. Armed with the expert insights in this practical guide, organisations can meet this global cybersecurity challenge”.
    –        Sean Duca, Vice President and Regional Chief Security Officer, Asia Pacific, Palo Alto Networks
