With Serco and GHD’s complementary capabilities, this new alliance is set to benefit the Commonwealth through a more sustainable and environmentally balanced approach to the Defence Estate.
At a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing on 1 November, Serco Defence Managing Director Clint Thomas AM, CSC, said the MOU reflects a generational change in how base services can be delivered, with a focus on improving efficiency and sustainability.
“Serco and GHD share a vision for thought leadership and helping industry respond to environmental concerns and liveability for future generations. Through this innovative alliance, we hope to benefit communities by rethinking and reshaping Defence precincts and, by combining innovation in design and service delivery, addressing 21st century operational, environmental and societal drivers. Our alliance with GHD will allow us to actively pursue innovative processes and technologies to reshape and remodel the Defence Estate, creating shared, multidisciplinary and sustainable business and lifestyle precincts. Serco brings over 20 years of experience with Defence Force base operations under demanding operational and environmental conditions, while GHD brings a wealth of specialist expertise in integrating technology into design and sustainability. By bringing those domains together, we hope to improve the efficiency of Defence base operations and help create a partnership toward a brighter future,” Mr Thomas said.
GHD Defence Sector Leader Damian Drain said, “We’re excited by this opportunity to work with Serco to develop and present new thinking for Defence precincts. Through our complementary mindset and approach, this alliance will integrate each of our respective unique skills with a view to delivering lasting benefit to the Commonwealth through a Defence estate that is sustainable and liveable for generations to come.”
