Serco Asia Pacific has been awarded a new contract to provide in port services across Australia for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

As part of the Defence Marine Support Services (DMSS) Program Service Package 1, Serco will deliver essential marine support services in naval and non-naval ports across Australia, as well as crewing, maintenance, and upkeep of asset bases.

The initial six-year contract has an estimated value of A$120million. The contract has provisions for two further five-year extensions with potential value to Serco over the full 16 years.

Serco Defence Managing Director Clint Thomas AM, CSC, said he was pleased to be able to continue providing in port services on behalf of the Royal Australian Navy.

“Serco has successfully provided in port services to the Royal Australian Navy across Australia as part of its Fleet Marine Services Contract (FMSC) for the past 24 years and I am delighted that this support will continue.

“This new contract recognises the strong partnership we have built with Navy over the years and Serco’s delivery of fully integrated defence service solutions. We look forward to working alongside the RAN with our supply network and our Australian Industry partners into the future,” Mr Thomas said.

Commencing 1 October 2021, the new contract includes general harbour services, security patrols, personnel and stores transfers, Bunker Barge Operation, maintenance support services and training.
